COMMUNICATING WITH THE NON-SELF SELF 2

Part 2 of 2

I shared Part One of this entry because I want you to have an understanding of the process. The word “self” is usually used as a noun. We think of our self as an entity, an individual, a person, or a body and we attach all our modifiers and clarifications onto those “things”. But, in truth we are more verb than noun. Our physical changes alone should show us this. We are constantly changing in every way. I read this morning that most of the dust we find in our homes is actually dead skin cells sluffing off as new ones push up from the deeper layers of our skin. Our minds, our beliefs and opinions, on and on, change and evolve as our lives unfold. If we can understand the idea that our reality is based on energy and information, we can begin to loosen the ties of a fixed reality. We can become less contracted and more spacious, which is another way of saying free.

So, this issue of the Non-Self Self is a play on words. There is Source and there is manifestation. We are all, along with all that is, a manifestation of the One Source Consciousness. Call it God if you like or choose from a long list. In truth it has no name or form. It’s like we are an idea in the Mind of God. Very likely an idea that wishes to experience itself. This Non-Self Self is today’s term for the Highest Essence of our being, an actual unique idea that has manifested through all of the points on this matrix. We are of exactly of the same essence of that which thought us into incarnation. All of this is useful information. And yet, in the non-dual view it is limited. Cosmic jibber-jabber perhaps. Certainly, we need to have some idea of all of this, but undoubtedly the focus is on the direct realization of this verity on an energetic, vibrational level. We must raise the frequency of our deepest mind, beyond our cognitive knowledge and concepts.

To bring this down a bit from the theoretical I will just say this, we can communicate with this Highest Essence of what we are. It speaks our language, knows us intimately and loves us deeply. A very silly statement for sure. We are just talking to ourselves! And, since this Highest Essence is an aspect of the One Source Consciousness, we are in communication with that Source also. We are talking to God. And don’t be surprised if your Listener very lovingly tells you to “Shut up and listen”! This all unfolds in silent stillness. We listen, open and receptive and we can open our hearts as well. This is likely an energetic conversation. It is a telepathic exchange, loving and never judgmental . Trust it.

Recently in a meditation I was beginning to feel the stillness of the Highest Non-Self. Really enjoying the peace and presence when my mind started thinking about pancakes! I was amused and distracted but quickly got back to where I wanted to be. I asked my Highest Mind,” If you are my true nature, beyond space and time, the local representative of God Almighty why can’t you keep me from thinking about pancakes”? Of course, again, I’m talking to myself but the answer gave me a bit of clarity. It explained, with a big smile I imagine, that there is an overlap in this process of identifying with your own Highest Essence. You begin to sense it, then feel it and then identify with it in meditation and your ego is becoming more and more of a shadow but the language- based thoughts still reside in that ego based, conceptual mind. Pancakes only exist there! Often, I am gently admonished to relax! Higher I told little I to understand that this overlap takes time to dissolve and evolve. Relax and be patient. I’m constantly reminded to peacefully allow, to renounce the idea of control and making it happen. At other times I’ve been told to just be happy, to lighten up and quit being so obsessive!

The Source Consciousness is vast, empty, infinite and eternal. It contains the cosmos of cosmoses and is beyond space and time. My mind wants to explode when I contemplate this unknowable mystery. And I have wondered, since childhood, how something so unimaginably huge could have even a minute concern for my existence. A good question. My answer has come in meditation, especially at the frequency of Unification, where I merge with the Source of my being, as my Highest Non-Self and I tremble with the indescribable vibration of Divine Love. I dissolve into the vastness of forever and feel like I am exactly where I belong. The “How” of all this is yet still a Mystery. My daily meditation visit is my joy, like having pancakes with Love itself. Now I have abandoned the “How?” and am completely satisfied with “It just IS”!
