GOD'S NAME IS SILENCE

We humans have an endless collection of names, words, images and ideas that try and pin down the ultimate Truth of existence. And the questions are equally vast. Who or what is God? How was the world created? Who are we, who am I, who are these other people? What is truth anyway? Who wrote the book of love? On and on, we restlessly seek answers and think we need them. And once we find our answers we erect a razor wire fence around them and polish our weapons. We even clump together with those who share our answers. This would all be amusing if the result was not all too often, immeasurable suffering. War and division, isolation and separation, restless confusion, doubt and fear……a short list. Thankfully, there is a way to be free of this quagmire of conceptual chatter. If we are still and silent for even a short while and we just let go of thinking about ALL of this we can eventually begin to experience an immense, vast, expansive, intelligent, loving presence. I say experience ,not knowledge or even understanding but a feeling of an energetic presence in every cell of our body and mind. If we drop the inner dialogue, which has it’s place of course, we can enter into the actual reality of Ultimate Truth.
To enter this process we merely need the desire to awaken from a deep sleep. Our bodies, our personality, our sense of egoic self; our name ,our achievements ,our joys and sorrows, our labels are all impermanent. And yet we invest everything in this mentally formed reality and we enter it and drift off into a spiritual slumber. But in the silence we begin to awaken. We find the inner aspect of our being. We become aware of being pure awareness, silent and still ,with an intimate connection with the source of Being. With this awakening we move beyond all concepts and beliefs and merge with the inexpressible love, joy and peace that has always been there, patiently waiting for us to want it and to receive it. This experience is natural, simple and available to all. It is not reserved for special people, there are no pre-requisites , no applications and no fees.
Certainly God’s name is not the word “silence”. (I guess if we had to have a name for God it would be every word ever spoken in every language and probably the sounds of nature and exploding stars). Silence is much more manageable I think. The experience of silence is actually stillness. Sounds come and go as do thoughts and yet in the center of the hurricane of life is that undisturbed essence, the Truth of who and what we are. We are One with that silence and mysteriously enough we are One with Love.
TAKE AWAYS…
Mystical union happens on the other side of beliefs.
Beliefs ( the paths) are useful and even necessary but the realization of our True Nature requires their transcendence.
Turning inward, we find, through experience, that the “Kingdom of Heaven” is literally within us.
Spiritual awakening is natural and inevitable.
All of this unfolds in Love.
